We love the bold, fruity taste of wine but hate when a glass of merlots ends up staining our carpets. And unless you know how to remove red wine out of carpet, that stain maybe be sticking around a little longer.

But not to worry- We have provided you with a step by step red wine removal solution.

Method 1-Using Water

1.     Blot up the red wine spill right away.

It is a proven fact, the longer you let red wine sit in your carpet, the harder it will be to get rid of the stain. If you can start removing the stain right after the spill, you’ll have a better shot at getting rid of it, grab a paper towel or a rag and blot the stain to pick up as much liquid as possible before it can set in your carpet fibers.

• Always use an up and down blotting motion, not side to side rubbing.
• Work from outside in. This helps prevents the stains from spreading.

2.     Apply some cold water and keep blotting.

After blotting up the red wine spill right away, it will get difficult to blot more of the red wine off from your carpets. Try to get the stain wet by adding a small amount of cold water. This will help by diluting the wine remaining in the carpet fibers.

Method 2-Using Salt

1.     Pour salt over the red wine stain while it’s still wet.

To help getting the wine out, you need to cover the stained spot with a portion of salt. The salt will gradually draw the wine stain from the carpet. This will take a couple of hours, so the best way is to leave the salt.

This solution is much less effective for dried stains. If your stain was already dry before covering the salt, you need to pour water on it first before adding the salt.

2.     Let the salt sit

As the salt absorbs the wine, it will turn pinkish. At this stage. You’re ready to proceed and wipe off the pinkish salt.

3.     Discard the excess salt and vacuum up the carpet

Scoop and salt first and then vacuum to suck up the fine particles that remain.

• If a salty residue remains after the first vacuum there is no need to worry, simply dampen the area with a little cool water and vacuum again.

Method 3- Using Vinegar Solution

1.     Make you vinegar cleaning solution

In a large bowl, mix 1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) of dishwashing liquid, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 2 cups (236 milliliters) of warm water. Stir to combine the mixture.

• You are required to use only white vinegar for this method. Other vinegars (like apple cider or balsamic vinegar can cause their own stains.)

2.     Wet the stain with the mixture

Soak a clean rug in the vinegar mixture, then dab it on the stained part of the carpet. The vinegar mixture will vinegar mixture will seep into the wine stained carpet fibers, loosening the stain.

• By using a dry rag, you will need to blot up the liquid as you go.

3.     Wet the whole stain with cold water

At this stage you will need to soak a third rag in cold water and press it into the satin to dilute it.

• Repeat as much as possible, for a good result.

4.     Using dish soap and hydrogen peroxide

Add a generous squirt of dish soap and mix it with hydrogen peroxide and stir the combination.

• Note: Hydrogen peroxide is a mild bleaching agent, so this method is best for light coloured fabrics.

5.     Blot the stain with the solution

Soak a clean rag into the peroxide solution. After dabbing the mixture gently, you need to allow it to seep into the carpet fibers.

• When you are done dabbing the mixture, you then leave the mixture to settle for a few minutes. This allows the hydrogen peroxide mixture to penetrate the carpet fibers.
